Solar CRM for Residential Installers and Sales Teams
A solar crm has to keep setters, closers and homeowners moving while your design tool handles roofs, panels and pricing. GoHighLevel runs lead intake, appointment setting, consent records and long follow-up inside your own account, beside the proposal software your team already uses. Solar CRM Features for Appointment Setting, Consent and Follow-Up
Each piece handles the sales work around a proposal, not the engineering inside it.
Consent-First Forms
Lead forms place disclosure wording beside the phone field and keep the submission on record, which matters in a high-complaint industry.
Vendor Lead Records
Purchased and shared leads are tagged by vendor and batch, so you can match each one to the consent proof the seller supplied.
Setter Workspace
Setters see new leads, contact attempts and qualifying answers in one place, then book straight onto a closer's calendar.
Utility Bill Intake
Homeowners upload a recent bill before the meeting, so the closer and the designer start from real usage instead of guesses.
Financing Path Tracking
Each deal records whether the homeowner is leaning toward cash, a loan or a lease or power purchase agreement, so follow-up fits the path.
Long-Cycle Nurture
Homeowners who are not ready this season stay on an informative email and text track instead of disappearing from the pipeline.

Solar CRM Guide: Choosing Software for Setters, Closers and Compliance
How to split work between GoHighLevel and your design or proposal platform, and which rules shape the build.
Solar CRM or Design Platform: Which Tool Owns What
Solar companies often expect one product to do everything, then end up with a design tool forced to act as a sales inbox. A solar crm and a design platform solve different problems. One manages people and conversations; the other manages roofs, panels, production estimates and proposal math.
As of October 2026, Aurora Solar’s site describes roof modeling and panel layout with shading analysis, interactive proposals showing usage, pricing, financing and expected savings, side-by-side quotes for cash, loan and third-party ownership, contract generation routed for Docusign signature, plan sets and an API that connects with CRMs. That is the engineering and proposal side of the sale.
GoHighLevel covers what happens before and around that proposal: ad landing pages, lead forms, calls, texts, email, calendars, pipelines and reporting. How data passes between them is decided per account, and we never promise a native connector we have not confirmed.
| Sales task | Better home | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ad funnels and web lead forms | GoHighLevel | Consent wording and source captured on submission |
| Setter calls, texts and qualifying | GoHighLevel | Shared inbox and pipeline stages per role |
| Booking the consultation | GoHighLevel | Closer calendars with reminders |
| Roof model, layout and production estimate | Design platform | Aurora lists shading analysis and AI layout |
| Proposal with financing options | Design platform | Aurora quotes cash, loan and TPO options |
| Follow-up after the proposal | GoHighLevel | Reminders and nurture until a decision |
| Past-customer battery and referral offers | GoHighLevel | Segmented email and SMS campaigns |
Setter-to-Closer Hand-Offs That Do Not Drop Homeowners
Most residential solar sales teams split the work. Setters reach the homeowner, confirm ownership and interest, and book a meeting; closers run the consultation and the proposal. The weak point is the space between those roles, when a homeowner has agreed to talk but no one owns the next touch.
We give each role its own stages and its own view. Setters work new leads through contact attempts, a qualifying conversation and a booked consultation. Closers pick up at consultation held and move deals through proposal, financing and signature. Because every setter note, call and text sits on one timeline, the consultation does not open by re-asking questions the homeowner already answered. If you also want prebuilt boards for permitting, inspection and permission to operate, our GoHighLevel solar snapshot page lists those assets.
Utility Bills, Financing Paths and Tax-Credit Claims
A closer who walks in with a year of usage runs a better meeting. A file upload field on the booking form saves the homeowner’s bill to their contact record, where the designer can pull it before the consultation.
Financing changes the follow-up, too. A cash buyer may be comparing installers, while a homeowner considering a loan, lease or power purchase agreement may be waiting on approval or on a second opinion. Recording the path on each deal lets reminders speak to the real question instead of repeating the pitch.
Many older solar scripts still promise a federal tax credit. Under the IRS page on One Big Beautiful Bill provisions, homeowners cannot claim the residential clean energy credit (25D) for expenditures made after December 31, 2025. We strip that claim from templates and add incentive wording only when your advisors approve a current program.
Purchased Leads, Consent Proof and Florida’s FTSA
Solar draws heavy texting and calling scrutiny because so many leads are bought, shared or resold. Under federal TCPA rules, autodialed or prerecorded marketing calls and texts generally need prior express written consent from the person being contacted. Before importing a list, ask the vendor for the consent record behind each lead and whether it identifies your company.
State laws can add their own exposure. Florida’s FTSA treats text messages as telephonic sales calls, so a Florida number on a bought list deserves the same care as a cold call. Every text number should also pass carrier approval through our A2P 10DLC registration service before outreach begins.
California Disclosures and In-Home Sales Rules
California adds solar-specific paperwork. According to the Contractors State License Board’s Solar Smart guidance, the Solar Energy System Disclosure Document must be printed on the front or cover page of every solar energy contract in boldface 16-point type and provided before the sale, financing or lease is completed. CSLB also says solar sales representatives must be registered with CSLB as Home Improvement Salespeople unless an exception applies.
Federal rules reach kitchen-table sales nationwide. Under the FTC Cooling-Off Rule, a homeowner who signs at home for $25 or more usually has three business days to change their mind, with the window closing at midnight. A pipeline stage for the cancellation window keeps installs from being scheduled too early. This is general information, not legal advice; confirm with counsel for your situation.
Solar CRM Numbers That Expose Weak Spots
- Cost per held consultation by lead vendor: cheaper leads that never sit down are not cheaper.
- Setter-to-closer acceptance: how many booked meetings the closer agrees were qualified.
- Bill received before the meeting: a leading sign of a productive consultation.
- Signature rate by financing path: where cash, loan and lease deals stall.
- Consent records on file: the share of imported leads with vendor proof attached.
Installed customers are the cheapest future leads you have. Battery add-ons, backup power, panel cleaning and referral requests can go to people already in the account, grouped by install date and utility, without buying another list.
Teams that want the account configured end to end can hand the work to our done-for-you GoHighLevel setup team; package details sit on the GoHighLevel setup pricing page.
Solar CRM: Questions, Answered
Most solar companies need two kinds of software. A design platform such as Aurora Solar handles roof models, layouts and proposals with financing options. A sales CRM such as GoHighLevel handles lead intake, setter and closer work, appointments, consent records and follow-up. The best fit depends on how much of your selling happens outside the proposal.
No. GoHighLevel does not model roofs, lay out panels or estimate production. It manages the people side: leads, calls, texts, calendars, pipelines and nurture. Aurora’s site says its API connects with CRMs, but any link between the two is scoped for your account rather than assumed to work out of the box.
Only with care. Automated marketing texts generally require the recipient’s prior express written consent, and some states, such as Florida, add their own rules. Ask each vendor for the consent record behind every lead and whether it names your company. Your registered numbers and your counsel’s consent wording come first.
No. The IRS lists the residential clean energy credit (section 25D) among the home energy credits that ended, with no credit for expenditures made after December 31, 2025. That is why we remove tax-credit promises from solar templates. Homeowners should check any remaining state or utility programs with their own tax advisor.
CSLB guidance says a Solar Energy System Disclosure Document must appear on the front or cover page of every solar energy contract and be provided before the sale, financing or lease is completed. CSLB also says solar sales representatives generally must be registered with CSLB as Home Improvement Salespeople. Confirm details with counsel.
It depends on how many lead vendors, sales roles and states you cover, and on how quickly A2P registration is approved. We scope the timeline on the strategy call once we see your current process. Package options are listed on our GoHighLevel setup pricing page.
